A STATISTICS OVERVIEW

Statistics GraphStatistics is a mathematical science which relates to collecting, analysing, interpreting or breakdown, and presentation of data. It is applied to a vast range of academic subjects, from the socialĀ  and physical sciences to the humanities. Statistics are also used for making well-versed evaluations.

Statistical processes can be used to sum up or explain a set of data; this is called descriptive statistics. Also, patterns in the data may be represented in a way that accounts for randomness and vagueness in the interpretations, and then used to draw inferences for the process or population that is being studied, this is called inferential statistics. Similarly descriptive and inferential statistics both encompass applied statistics.

Also, there is a statistics field named mathematical statistics, which is dealing with the theoretical basis of the subject.

Statistics is the plural of statistic, which relates to the outcome of applying a statistical algorithm to a collection of data, like crime statistics, economic statistics, and so on.
